"AIIS-OSTANKINO" at Ostankino TV tower
provides measurement of vertical profiles of the
air temperature, direction and wind speed, air
humidity, pollution of the air in
the lowest 500-m air stratum, meteorological
range of visibility, the cloud cover lower
boarder, intensity and amount of
precipitation, atmospheric pressure, temperature
of the ground cover and other parameters
in real time.

2. The organization
and hardware for scientific research of ground
air stratum
Ostankino television tower is a unique
engineering construction. A great number of
scientific research were carried out in the
period of more than three decades during the
construction and further operation of TV
tower. First of all these activities were
connected with the research of meteorological
phenomena of the ground air stratum, research of
thunderstorm phenomena, analysis of glaze-ice
and rime deposition phenomena and wind load on
the Tower. The phenomena, connected with the
pollution of Moscow ground air stratum have been
also studied.
The
majority of executed researches were done on
application level, were put into the basis of
the normative documents, fundamental scientific
works.
Now MAIN TV
& BC CENTER can ensure realization of
systematic research in the field of meteorology
and ecology of urban atmosphere, the results of
which can be utilized by urban services and is
scientific organizations for the solution of
practical problems.
There is a
possibility of the installation of
different equipment on different elevation marks
of Ostankino TV tower, connected to digital
channels.

instrument and equipment tests of meteorological
and ecological observations.
Ostankino
TV
tower is a
unique testing area for carrying out
of different tests intended for usage
in hardest climatic conditions.
Tests of weather
equipment, trace gas analyzers (Russian
and import production ), instrumentation for
research of thunderstorm activity were done in
different years.
There is a capability of
the installation of instrumentation up to
an altitude of more than 500
meters from the ground level. Thus will
be ensured data transfer by different communication channels, including fiber
- optical, the continuity of electrical power supply. MAIN

corporation, Gill Instruments Ltd.
(Great Britain). The software

classic and applied meteorology, in
