1. Information about the fire and situation at Ostankino Tower - Main TV and BC Center

     On Sunday 27.08.2000 at Ostankino TV Tower there was a fire of feeders. This feeders connected transmitters with antennas, situated on the top of the Tower. Next day by forces of the firemen, Ministry of extreme situations and operational staff of the Tower the distribution of a fire was halted.

     For today it is possible to notify following information about a condition on the tower:

1. The research of steel ropes has shown, that the Tower can stand fixedly without some of them. This steel ropes were very important only during the construction of the Tower.
2. Temporarily the observation desk and restaurant " The Seventh Heaven" will be unapproachable to the visitors, because elevators have suffered. But at the same time, we can notify, that the interior of the restaurant practically has not suffered.

     In a near future the replacement of internal ropes, elevators, part of radio equipment and cable distributing is required.

     In the proximate period under the temporary scheme the broadcasting from Ostankino Tower around Moscow will be retrieved. 30.08.2000 in the evening is planned to begin broadcasting “ÐÒД company on the 11 channel.
