December 3rd – International Day of Persons with Disabilities

In 1992 General Assembly of the United Nations proclaimed December 3rd as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Main purpose was to support people with disabilities and help them to integrate in society.

As a sign of concern about problems that people with disabilities face nowadays several events were organized in “Korolyovsky” concert hall.


On November 27th within the framework of the “Back to life” 11th awarding ceremony of Russian Paralympic Committee we met many sportsmen – Paralympics, nation team trainers and sports organizers who made a great contribution to adaptive physical culture and sport development. President of Paralympic Committee Vladimir Lukin, Russian President’s assistant Igor Levitin, head of Moscow Department of sport and tourism Nikolay Gulyaev, deputy Minister of sport in Russian Federation Pavel Novikov and general producer of “Match TV” channel Tinatin Kandelaky took part in awarding ceremony. This event that was organized again proved the statement that despite all the complicated international circumstances faced by Russian Paralympic Sport, national sportsmen are well-prepared to overcome all difficulties and stay strong.


On November 29th youngsters from Moscow corrective boarding schools visited “Korolyovsky” concert hall. Each year children get an opportunity to know some new interesting and unusual facts about Moscow connected to its past and future. This year in honor of the Ostankino TV Tower 50th anniversary “Illustrated books for blind children” Charity Foundation supported by Moscow Department of mass media and advertisement released special book named “Ostankino TV Tower”.


Head of Moscow Department of mass media and advertisement Ivan Shubin and Ostankino TV Tower director Dmitry Nazarov warmly greeted all the young guests. When fascinating performance was finished every youngster received a book as a gift. It helps all of them to get acquainted with tower’s structure and functions in entertaining way. Special writing technologies were used in books production. Ostankino TV Tower tour guides also told children many wonderful and breathtaking stories about the tallest building in Europe.


On December 3rd the awarding ceremony of “Life at a pace of creation” 2nd Festival of arts for youngster with disabilities was held. Since 2016 Festival has been organized as a non-commercial project. Its main purpose is to evolve creativity among youngsters with disabilities. More than 150 participants took part in different spheres of art: dancing, performance skills, artistic creativity, etc.


In our fast-moving world persons with disabilities sometimes face difficulties during socialization process. We are able to help them overcome these issues and feel warmth and love. It is vitally important not to forget about it and do our best to support persons with disabilities.
