Broadcasting from ice-covered Ostankino Tower goes without problems

Now we can see the upper part of the Ostankino Tower enveloped with an ice blanket. This phenomenon doesn't influence on Tower's operating, and all equipment works in usual mode.

TV- and radio broadcasting is carried out without any failures.

"Actually, it happens due to low clouds, vapor and micro-crystals of ice, which are contained in clouds. They settle on the cold metal structures of the Tower quickly and form a thick snowy frost. Without low clouds and in sunny weather, ice will disappear and the TV Tower will return to its usual appearance", said Pavel Razin, Deputy Head of the Department of Construction Supervision and Engineering Control of the Ostankino TV Tower.
