Happy birthday, Ostankino Tower!

On November 5, 1967, act of the State Commission about commissioning of the Union Radio and Television Transmission Station in Ostankino was approved. The long expected broadcasts of television and radio programs began.

For successful implementation of theconstruction complex, 300 the most distinguished employees of various organizations were awarded with state orders and medals of the Soviet Union.

In 1970, honorary Lenin Prize was awarded to creators of the Ostankino TV Tower project: author-designer, Dr.Tech.Sc. Nikolay Nikitin, chief project engineer Boris Zlobin, architects Dmitry Burdin and Lev Shchipakin, engineer Moses Shkud.
